Story 1: Bess and the School Bus

Bess is a bright yellow school bus. Every morning, she wakes up early and honks her horn.
“Beep beep! Time for school!”

The children love Bess. She takes them safely to school every day.
One rainy morning, Bess sees a big puddle in the road.

“Oh no!” says Bess. “I can’t go through it!”

But the children are waiting. Bess thinks and thinks.
Then she finds a small road around the puddle.

“Vroom vroom!” Bess drives carefully and gets all the children to school on time.

The children cheer: “Thank you, Bess!”

Story 2: Dilly the Dinosaur

Dilly is a small, orange dinosaur with a big roar.
He loves to play and run, but sometimes he forgets to listen.

One day, Dilly’s mom says, “Dilly, take a bath!”
But Dilly says, “No! I want to play!”
He plays in the mud, runs in the grass, and gets very dirty.

Later, his friend Dixie visits.
“Eww, Dilly! You smell!” says Dixie.
Dilly looks sad. “I’m sorry,” he says.

He takes a bath, and now he smells like flowers.
“Much better!” says Dixie.

Dilly laughs and says, “Bath time is fun after all!”

Story 3: Dee and Zee Visit the Sea

Dee and Zee are brother and sister. Today, they go to the sea with their parents.
They wear hats, bring a ball, and carry a bucket.

At the beach, they run on the sand and build a big sandcastle.
“Let’s find shells!” says Dee.

They find pink shells, white shells, and one with a hole!
Then, they see a small crab. It runs sideways!

“Look, Zee!” says Dee.
“It’s so fast!” laughs Zee.

At the end of the day, they sit and watch the sunset.
“Today was the best beach day ever,” they say together.

Story 4: Fluffy and the Fish

Fluffy is a grey kitten with big eyes and a long tail.
One day, he sees a round glass bowl on the table. Inside is a goldfish!

Fluffy jumps up and watches.
“Hello, little fish,” says Fluffy.

The fish swims in circles.
Fluffy tries to touch the bowl.
Splash! A little water comes out.

“Fluffy, no!” says Mom.
Fluffy looks sorry.

The next day, Fluffy sits quietly and watches without touching.
The fish blows bubbles.

“Blub blub!” says the fish.
“Meow meow!” says Fluffy.

Now they are quiet friends.

Story 5: Pat at the Zoo

Pat is a girl who loves animals.
Today, she goes to the zoo with her dad.

“Look, Dad! A lion!”
The lion sleeps under a tree.
“Shh!” says Dad. “He is resting.”

Next, they see elephants.
“Wow! They are so big!” says Pat.

Then, they go to the monkeys.
The monkeys swing and jump. One throws a banana peel!
Pat laughs and claps.

Before they go home, Pat says,
“I want to be a zookeeper one day!”

Dad smiles. “You’ll be the best zookeeper ever.”

Story 6: The Fat Cat

There once was a fat cat named Max.
Max loved to eat. He ate in the morning, afternoon, and night!

One day, Max saw his reflection in a puddle.
“Oh no! I am too round!” he said.

Max decided to change.
He ate less and played more.
He ran after butterflies and climbed trees.

Soon, Max felt happy and light.
Now he eats healthy food and plays with his friends every day.

Max says, “A little fun and less food make a happy cat!”
